The coral trend of seasons past has gone one step further, entering orangey-red (OK, sometimes all-out orange) territory. This was evident in the neon lips that were all over the runways at New York Fashion Week.
And I love it. I have pale skin, and bright colors can sometimes wash me out. But the orange-red is IT for me, albeit more red than that nuclear orange the models were sporting (when in doubt, always lean toward the red, orange’s more established older sibling). An extreme color in itself, orange-red highlights extreme skin tones, playing on the natural pink undertones in fair skin, and standing in sharp contrast to dark skin tones.
A splash of it on my nails, lips, or a statement piece is the perfect pop of color for a dark fall outfit, brightening up grays, blacks, dark greens, and my staple color, navy. It’s even a great match for the pale pink trend that’s happening this year.
I fell in love with L’Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick in Volcanic last winter. Now I’m all about Essie’s Meet Me at Sunset (which, in person, is a perfect match to that Zara gathered shoulder coat).
