Is it a dress, or is it lingerie?
Do I care?
The slip dress is something I could so easily make fun of (and sometimes do). But I won’t. Because what could possibly be more comfortable than wearing a loose whisper of silk, satin, or some other delicate material when it’s time to go out for the night? That’s right–absolutely nothing.
Thanks to the nineties making a comeback, (not to mention nipples), the slip dress has once again become the It dress.
It might scream minimalism, but the slip dress can, in fact, be bold. It’s like saying, I’m so fucking awesome that this is literally all I need to wear to prove it.
Alas, as with most trends, there are some precautions to take.
Go easy on the lacy details–the slip dress is effortless, yes, but you don’t want to look as if you accidentally got ready for bed instead of getting ready to go out.
And for the sake of avoiding hypothermia, if you live in, say, Minnesota–don’t be one of those girls who dresses as if there isn’t a foot of snow on the ground. Either forgo the look until warmer temps, or invest in a long tuxedo jacket (similar to a black blazer–oh-so-versatile, aren’t they?) or a leather jacket, and (PLEASE) pick up some tights.
(This is one of those times when living on the Golden Coast isn’t too bad!)
